May 24, 2013

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Several engineering professors at the University of Florida are available to talk about the collapse of the Interstate 5 bridge in Washington Thursday evening.

They have been working on ways to equip bridges with sensors that can detect and report on problems. They’re also developing new materials that will extend the life of bridges. A story about their research can be found at http://goo.gl/OxSgq.

To reach them, contact Joe Kays, director of research communications, at 352-392-8229 or 352-598-6682 or joekays@ufl.edu.
