UFPA presents 10 April performances

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida Performing Arts will present 10 performances in April, highlighted by the Tony-winning production of the musical “HAIR” on April 8 and VOCA PEOPLE, a thrilling a cappella musical adventure on April 11.

Jazz titans Dee Dee Bridgewater, Christian McBride, Benny Green, Lewis Nash, Chris Potter and Ambrose Akinmusire unite for the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour: 55th Anniversary on April 12, while NINETY MILES featuring Stefon Harris, Nicholas Payton and David Sanchez pools young jazz talent for a Cuban-American sound on April 27 at Squitieri Studio Theatre.

UFPA’s classical programming for April features Young Concert Artist Paul Huang, April 3 at Squitieri Studio Theatre, and the collaboration of acclaimed trumpeter Alison Balsom and the world-renowned Scottish Ensemble on April 13 at University Auditorium.

Rounding out the month will be writer/performer Charlie Ross’ “One-Man Star Wars Trilogy,” April 16-20, Squitieri Studio Theatre; British singer/songwriter Al Stewart, April 20, University Auditorium; and a pre-recorded Specticast presentation of Mikhail Glinka’s “Ruslan and Lyudmila.”

Tickets range from $15-50, depending on the show. All performances are at the Phillips Center, unless otherwise noted.

UF student tickets are currently on sale and available for $10 to all April shows with the exception of “HAIR,” which is $15.
