UFPA to host 19 February performances, including Merle Haggard

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida Performing Arts will host 19 performances in February featuring a wide range of genres, including dance, Broadway, classical, world, gospel, country and folk.

Artists performing include the California and Montreal Guitar Trios, Feb. 1, University Auditorium; Canadian-folk trio Good Lovelies, Feb. 2-3, Squitieri Studio Theatre; The King’s Singers and Seán Curran Company, Feb. 8; country legend Merle Haggard, Feb. 9; Paddy Moloney and The Chieftains, Feb. 10; Vienna Boys Choir, Feb. 13; Indian Ink Theatre Company’s “Guru of Chai,” Feb 14-16, Squitieri Studio Theatre; and “Hooray for Hollywood,” Feb. 15, featuring a nostalgic journey through the most popular musicals and movies of the last 50 years.

Jazz fans will be treated to the recreation of a night at Birdland Jazz Club with “LIVE AT BIRDLAND,” Feb. 16, University Auditorium, featuring a dynamic new ensemble of New York City’s finest musicians; followed by a Specticast pre-recorded presentation of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Attila,” Feb. 17; and folk icon John McCutcheon, Feb. 17, Squitieri Studio Theatre. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will perform new productions and classics such as “Revelations,” Feb. 19.

Rounding out February’s lineup are Dark Star Orchestra, Feb. 22; Creole Choir of Cuba, Feb. 26; Young Concert Artist: MiXt, Feb. 27; and finally, taiko or Japanese drum with Kodo, Feb. 28.

Ticket prices range from $15-50 for reserved seating, depending on the show.
UF student tickets are currently on sale and available for $10 to most shows.
