Homecoming's education award nomination forms available

November 6, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Homecoming’s Education Celebration applications and nomination forms are available online at www.gatorgrowl.org or in the Florida Blue Key Office, Room 365 in the Reitz Student Union.

Nominations will be accepted for the Homecoming Outstanding Faculty Award, Homecoming Outstanding Mentor of Undergraduate Research Award and the new award celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Morrill Act award.

The forms are due Oct. 10 in the Florida Blue Key office, or emailed to Hannah Gehr, director of the Education Celebration, at hanna.gehr@ufhomecoming.org.

Nominees must be active, full-time faculty at UF. Both students and faculty can nominate others for an award, or faculty may apply for the award themselves.

The awards will be presented during Swamp Symphony, Homecoming’s fine arts event, on Oct. 28 at Flavet Field.

Education Celebration showcases impressive and prominent staff furthering education on UF’s campus, giving students the chance to nominate faculty who have had an outstanding impact on their academic careers. Unlike in past years, faculty may apply for the award if they include letters of recommendation in their application.

For more information, contact Gehr at hanna.gehr@ufhomecoming.org, or Molly Vazquez, director of Homecoming public relations, at molly.vazquez@ufhomecoming.org.
