UF's department of recreational sports hosts RecSports Extravaganza

August 23, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The RecSports Extravaganza will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Southwest Recreation Center. University of Florida students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.

This event provides an opportunity for the UF community to learn about the programs and services offered by RecSports. Fitness demonstrations, sport clubs expositions, intramural sports games, weight room orientations, complimentary massages, information about swim lessons, Lake Wauburg activities, free food and swag will be available.

The 43 Sport Clubs will be in attendance, allowing students to meet the members and to learn each club’s practice schedule and more specific information. Sport Clubs are student-run organizations for those who have a passion for, or want to learn a new sport. They emphasize leadership, skill development, team-building and socializing while competing against other universities. Personal trainers will provide fitness information. Participants may also try a new workout with the RecSports Small Group Training coaches. The Intramural Sports staff will also provide participants with sporting games and competitions. The first 1,500 students or RecSports members to participate in six different activities will receive an exclusive RecSports T-shirt.
