Smathers Libraries hosts Authors@UF: Leela Corman

July 11, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — An informal talk with author and graphic illustrator Leela Corman will take place at the Architecture and Fine Arts Library on July 18 at 6:15 p.m.

Corman will discuss her new graphic novel “UNTERZAKHN”, which has received rave reviews from Publishers Weekly and Booklist. This graphic novel is about immigrant life on New York’s Lower East Side at the turn of the 20th century, as seen through the eyes of twin sisters whose lives take radically and tragically different paths.
Corman is also the author and illustrator of “Subway Series and Queen’s Day” and illustrator of “Stories of a Traveling Bellydancer” and “The Long and Short of It: The Madcap History of the Skirt”.

A reception with book sale and signing will follow the program. The event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the George A. Smathers Libraries.
