July 26, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — To raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project and to honor veterans who have served, Gator Growl will provide an opportunity to sponsor tickets for wounded veterans and their families.

Gator Growl 2012 has announced a partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project for this year’s production, which will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Anyone can sponsor a veteran and his or her family through Ticketmaster, starting Aug. 22. Tickets to sponsor the veterans are $25.

Gator Growl 2012 will report the tickets sold to the Wounded Warrior Project, which will contact interested families. All Wounded Warrior veterans should contact the Wounded Warrior Project if they are interested in attending.

The theme of Gator Growl 2012 is “United We Growl” and the show will be honoring both the Florida Gators and the United States military on the eve of Veterans Day weekend.

In Florida, there are around 900 Wounded Warriors, and most are located in North Central Florida. The average age is between 25 and 28.

The Wounded Warrior Project works to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. Its mission is to raise awareness for the needs of injured service members, help injured service members aid and assist each other and to provide unique and direct programs to meet their needs.

Gator Growl marks the culmination of UF’s homecoming festivities and brings together students, alumni, staff and faculty.
