Interstate 75 southbound ramp at Newberry Road to close for repaving

April 13, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Interstate 75 southbound exit ramp onto Newberry Road will be closed for two nights next week for repaving, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

Crews will close the Exit 387 ramp at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and work until 6 a.m. Wednesday to repave the ramp. If the work is not completed, the ramp will close again at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and reopen no later than 6 a.m. Thursday. Traffic will be detoured to either Archer Road or Northwest 39th Avenue during the ramp closure.

The repaving is part of the overall interchange improvements that include the addition of two lanes to the northbound exit ramp onto Newberry Road. The entire project is expected to be completed by early summer.

FDOT hired D.A.B. Constructors Inc. of Inglis to reconstruct the ramps for $2.2 million. Approximately 8,900 northbound vehicles on I-75 exit onto Newberry Road each day to join another 50,000 vehicles already traveling on Newberry Road.
