UF Wind Symphony to perform world premiere

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Wind Symphony with guest appearances by conductor David Goss and Pulitzer Prize-Winning composer-in-residence Paul Moravec, will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 29 in the University Auditorium.

The symphony, under the musical direction of David Waybright, will perform Alban Berg’s “Kammerkonzert,” Aaron Copland’s “Emblems,” the world premiere of Moravec’s “Wind Symphony for Concert Band” and Frank Ticheli’s “Blue Shades. “

Pre-concert lectures begin at 7 p.m., featuring a discussion of Berg’s piece with assistant professor of musicology Silvio dos Santos, and of Moravec’s piece with the composer. The lectures will be in the Friends of Music Room in the University Auditorium.

The concert is presented by the College of Fine Arts School of Music.
