UF's Anti-Hazing Task Force meeting scheduled for Tuesday

WHAT: The University of Florida Anti-Hazing Task Force, which was formed in December at UF President Bernie Machen’s request to review UF anti-hazing policies, regulations, procedures, and enforcement measures.

WHEN: 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14

WHERE: President’s Conference Room, 226 Tigert Hall

NOTE: Items to be discussed include:

  • Update from Student Affairs on the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity incident and anti-hazing initiatives.
  • The report “Hazing in View: College Students at Risk Initial Findings from the National Study of Student Hazing,” a study based on the analysis of 11,482 survey responses from undergraduate students enrolled at 53 colleges and universities and more than 300 interviews with students and campus personnel at 18 of those institutions.
  • The CBS News video “Hazing: A Dangerous Tradition,” which examines the culture and history of hazing and how parents of one hazing victim are trying to reverse a deadly trend.
