Former mayor Giuliani to speak at UF Jan. 26

January 6, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a leader to whom America and much of the world turned to in a time of crisis, will speak Jan. 26 at the University of Florida.

In a topical presentation with a question-and-answer period, Giuliani will examine today’s issues. He will share with the audience his principles for leadership, which leaders at all levels can use to transform their culture to achieve results.

The ACCENT Speaker’s Bureau program starts at 8 p.m. in the Phillips Center for Performing Arts. It’s free and open to the public.

Giuliani, who was mayor during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, was named the 2001 Person of the Year by TIME magazine. The magazine commended him for his bravery when it was required, and for not quitting and shrinking from the pain around him. He was given an honorary knighthood by the Queen of England and awarded the Ronald Reagan Presidential Freedom Award.

He has been touted as one of the most effective chief executives in modern American history. Giuliani almost single-handedly took on organized and white-collar crime in New York. Few U.S. attorneys can match his record of more than 4,000 convictions. He reminds audiences that eternal vigilance and courage are required to protect freedom.

Recognized by Consulting magazine as the “Consultant of the Year,” Giuliani Partners quickly established itself as a leader in strategic consulting, emergency preparedness and leadership. Giuliani is also a partner in the law firm Bracewell & Giuliani, an international law firm with more than 400 lawyers.
