Harn offers opportunity to meet local artists, buy holiday gifts

November 1, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Harn Museum of Art Local Artist Trunk Show offers an opportunity for visitors to purchase distinctive jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography and other works by local artists, whose work is currently for sale in the Harn Museum of Art Store.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, additional booths and increased merchandise will spill into the galleria space of the museum surrounding the Harn Museum Store.

Artists at each booth will provide a demonstration in connection with the art that they create. The artists include: Florida landscape paintings by Gary Borse; original earrings and necklaces by Lea Hale; Sumi-e ink paintings by Kana Handel; nature photography by Susannah Peddie; ceramic works by Leland Shaw; jewelry by Sally Stein; and jewelry by Peter Senesac.

“This is an opportunity for the community to meet the store’s local consignment artists in an intimate indoor setting,” Kathryn Rush, Harn Museum Store manager, said. “Visitors will enjoy the increased inventory for holiday shopping and support the museum and local artists with their purchases.”

A portion of the proceeds support the local artists who are participating. The remaining funds support exhibitions and programs at the Harn Museum of Art. Visitors will have the opportunity to become a Harn Museum member and receive a discount on purchases during this event.
