Grammy-nominated violinist to perform all-Mozart program Sunday

October 7, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Praised for her triumphs and fervor exulted onstage, Grammy-nominated violinist Rachel Barton Pine will join the The New York Chamber Soloists Orchestra for an all-Mozart program at 2 p.m. Sunday in University Auditorium.

Pine is lauded for her intrinsic understanding of musical works in her 16-record discography, which includes the Beethoven Concerto and the world-premiere recording of Clement’s D-Major Violin Concerto. In May 2011, she released “Capricho Latino,” featuring unaccompanied virtuoso works from Spain and Latin America.

Pine’s ability to connect with diverse audiences is seen in her touring history. She’s performed with numerous North American orchestras and internationally with the Israel and Scottish Chamber Orchestras; the Royal Philharmonic; and in Vienna, New Zealand and Iceland.

Similarly, the Chamber Soloists – a 12-member ensemble of strings, winds and keyboard – give distinct contributions to noteworthy compositions in more than 250 works to date.

Critically acclaimed composers, such as Gunther Schuller, Mario Davidovsky, Ezra Laderman and Mel Powell, have written more than 25 compositions for the Chamber Soloists to perform, enabling the ensemble to enrich the chamber world with 20th century works.

The Chamber Soloists have established a strong presence worldwide, frequently completing tours in North America, Europe, Latin American, the Far East and South Pacific.

Pine and the Chamber Soloists will pay homage in their interpretation of Mozart’s timeless works in the complementary, historic setting at University Auditorium.
