UF faculty can speak to issues related to Sept. 11 anniversary

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The following sources at the University of Florida are available to speak with the news media on topics related to the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Computer security
Praveen Pathak. An American Economic Institutions Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management, Pathak can discuss post-Sept. 11 computer issues, specifically network security and its implications for national security. 352-392-9599, praveen@ufl.edu.

Anti-terrorism planning
Richard H. Schneider. A professor of urban and regional planning, Schneider specializes in crime-prevention planning and has worked on anti-terrorism planning and design projects for the U.S. Department of Defense. International law, human rights
Berta Esperanza Hernandez-Truyol. A professor of law with expertise in international law and human rights, including race, gender, culture, language and sexuality in both domestic and international contexts, Hernandez-Truyol can comment about international and domestic law interaction. 352-273-0928, Hernandez@law.ufl.edu.

Foreign relations, terrorism
Ido (pronounced EE-do) Oren. An associate professor of international relations in UF’s political science department, Oren grew up in Israel and can discuss U.S. foreign policy in general. 352-273-2393.

Tourism crisis management
Lori Pennington-Gray. As the director of the Tourism Crisis Management Institute in the College of Health and Human Performance, Pennington-Gray conducts and facilitates research projects related to manmade and natural tourism crises. 352-392-4042, ext. 1318, penngray@hhp.ufl.edu.

Middle Eastern politics
Patricia J. Woods. A political science professor and expert in modern Middle East politics. She has taught courses on the modern Middle East, Israeli politics and Arab-Israeli conflicts. Civil rights, constitutional law
Fletcher Baldwin. An emeritus law professor, Baldwin can comment on the impact of Sept. 11 on civil rights. He recently published a paper on this topic.
