Sister Hazel band members to sing national anthem, host Gator Growl

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Ken Block and Drew Copeland from the group Sister Hazel will return to their hometown to sing the national anthem and host Gator Growl 2011.

Originally from Gainesville, Sister Hazel is a Southern rock band known best for its single “All for You,” which hit No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last year’s album, “Release,” reached the band’s highest ever spot — No. 37 — on the Billboard Album Charts, topping even its platinum disc “Somewhere More Familiar.”

Block is a songwriter, acoustic guitarist and lead singer of the band. He is a critically acclaimed performer and songwriter who has written or co-written several Billboard-charting songs. Copeland plays rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar and sings lead and background vocals for the band. He has co-written many of the group’s songs.
