RTS expands service, adds routes for fall

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — RTS will begin its fall 2011 service Aug. 15 with changes to a number of routes to better serve the Gainesville community.

In addition, the City Commission approved four new fixed bus routes and the addition of two Later Gator Routes as follows:

Route 27: Eastside Circulator (Eastside Gainesville to Santa Fe Downtown Campus) running Monday – Friday, every hour from 7:33 a.m. to 7:20 p.m.

Route 28: The Hub on the UF campus to Southwest 20th Avenue running Monday – Friday, every 22-23 minutes from 7:56 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Route 46: UF- Downtown Circulator (Reitz Union to Southeast 3rd Street) running Monday – Friday, every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Route 62: Oaks Mall to Lexington Crossing running Monday – Friday, every hour from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Later Gator D: Rosa Parks Downtown Station to FloridaWorks to running Thursday – Saturday, every 30 minutes from 8:45 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Later Gator F: Rosa Parks Downtown Station to Butler Plaza to running Saturdays only, every 30 minutes from 8:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Other changes will include extending service on Routes 10, 23 and 43 to 10 p.m. Monday – Friday and extending service to 8:25 p.m on Route 21. Bus frequency will be increased on Routes 10, 23 and 122 (UF North – South Circulator) and decreased on Route 121(Commuter Lot).

These changes were made possible through the passage of the Santa Fe Transportation Fee Bill and RTS’ continued partnership with the University of Florida.
