WLUF-TV to offer 24/7 NASA coverage of Endeavor

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida’s Division of Multimedia Properties announces a short-term partnership with NASA to provide 24-hour carriage of NASA TV in honor of space shuttle Endeavor’s final mission.

Beginning at 7 a.m. May 23, UF’s WLUF-TV will carry NASA TV 24-hours-a-day throughout the shuttle’s mission providing live ongoing coverage of this important event through the landing at Florida’s Cape Canaveral.

“We felt this was a wonderful opportunity to share Endeavor’s final mission with the viewers of North Central Florida. NASA TV offers an incredible view behind the scenes and the College of Journalism and Communications is excited to provide this high quality look at Endeavor and the amazing things happening in orbit around the Earth,” said Randy Wright, executive director of UF’s Division of Multimedia Properties.

NASA TV will appear on WLUF-TV, Cox channel 6 in Gainesville, and over the air on digital channel 10.

The UF College of Journalism and Communications Division of Multimedia Properties is comprised of television stations Florida’s 5 WUFT-TV and WLUF-TV; two public radio stations Florida’s 89.1 WUFT-FM, 89.1 and WJUF-FM; and two commercial radio stations Country 103.7, The Gator and WRUF Sportsradio 850. The station studios are located in the college and serve as a training facility for telecommunication, journalism, advertising and public relations students. They serve listeners and viewers in Central and North Florida.
