Final countdown to Midnight Fun Run 2011 begins

April 14, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Fifth Annual Midnight Fun Run is an opportunity for University of Florida students and others to relieve stress during finals, accomplish their first 5K or train for a future race.

The event will start at 11:59 p.m. April 20 at Gate 2 of the O’Connell Center, and consists of a 5K run or a 1.5 mile walk through the UF campus. The event is open to everyone, and Gator 1 cardholders can register one person without a Gator 1 card. With registration, participants will receive a Dri-Fit event T-shirt and breakfast at Gator Corner Dining Center following the race. Kiss 105.3 will be broadcasting live from the event.

The Midnight Fun Run is presented by the Department of Recreational Sports and Healthy Gators and is partnering with Soles4Souls to collect shoe donations before and after the event to aid the tsunami relief effort. Any size and type of shoe will be accepted and will be collected at Gate 2 of the O’Connell Center. The shoes will be distributed by Soles4Souls where needed, and donations to assist shipping costs will also be accepted.
