Festival features three new plays

April 7, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Players, the University of Florida student-run theater group, will produce its annual New Works Festival at 7:30 p.m. today and Friday, April 7-8.

The festival began and continues to thrive as an open venue for up-and-coming playwrights to present their new productions to a student body.

This year’s festival showcases the talents of three young writers as well as many different actors, directors, and production members.

The following new works will be performed at the University Commons Clubhouse: “Shotgun Party” by Andrew Bailes; “Aliena” by John Wells; and “Chutes and Ladders are for Children” by Alexandra Tanner.

Admission is free.
