Medical student residencies to be unveiled on Match Day

March 16, 2011

What: Members of the University of Florida College of Medicine Class of 2011 will discover where they complete their medical residency training during the college’s annual Match Day ceremony. Each year on the third Thursday in March, medical students across the country receive sealed envelopes containing letters that tell them where they will complete their residencies, the next step in their medical training. The National Resident Matching Program matches prospective residents to residencies using a mathematical algorithm that compiles students’ and institutions’ top choices. The decision determines the trajectory of students’ careers and what specialties they will enter.

Where: The Paramount Plaza Hotel & Conference Center, 2900 S.W. 13th St., Gainesville

When: Matches will be announced beginning at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 17
