Improv group raises money for good cause

February 25, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Theatre Strike Force, University of Florida’s premiere improvisational and sketch comedy troupe, is hosting “12 Hours of Improv,” an improv comedy marathon showcasing the best comedy UF has to offer on Feb. 25 in the Orange and Brew.

Although the cost is free, audience members are encouraged to donate, and all the proceeds will be given to Relay for Life. The event is one of several fundraisers the organization conducts yearly to benefit the organization and fund cancer research and treatment.

Last year, improvisers hopped on and off stage for the 12-hour period, performing a mix of short-form and long-form improv, and ending with the club’s monthly Gator Night’s performance. Students used their talents to raise more than $1,000 to beat cancer.

Join TSF and friends as they take on a club tradition and take the stage.

Theatre Strike Force has been the premiere improv and sketch comedy troupe at the University of Florida since 1989. The organization teaches short- and long-form improvisation throughout its five-level academy structure, and produces several performance teams, including a sketch writing staff. The organization has about 80 official members, and its classes and shows are free to the UF community.
