Coach Donovan needs support for charity challenge

February 4, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida Basketball Coach Billy Donovan needs your help.

Donovan, along with 14 other NCAA basketball coaches, is competing in the national ESPN “Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge.”

The winner of the charity challenge receives $100,000 toward the charity of his choice. Donovan selected the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, which would use the proceeds to build Shands Hospital for Children and Women at the University of Florida.

Donovan is in the lead, but University of Kentucky’s head coach, John Calipari, is very close behind him.

To help the Gators’ coach win, register at www.ESPN.com/Infiniti, and vote once a day from now until March 11. Use the Facebook and Twitter links to spread the word.

The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation advocates passionately for the specialized treatment of children and for patient safety.

Winning the challenge would be a large step toward making Shands at UF the state’s foremost provider of pediatric health and wellness services and a national leader in pediatric research, innovation and education.
