UF Office of Sustainability seeks volunteers for campus cleanup

January 21, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Office of Sustainability and the UF Clean Water Campaign are teaming up to host “REstore”– a litter cleanup on the UF campus.

Volunteers are sought to pick up waste in the natural areas of the campus from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 5.

Interested students and others should send an e-mail to Ashley Pennington in the Office of Sustainability at amp1986@ufl.edu by Jan. 28. Volunteers will be provided refreshments and snacks after the cleanup and are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to the event.

The campus will be divided into zones, and volunteers will be assigned to each zone with a site captain.

This event will serve as a kickoff to “REthink” – a campaign to engage, educate and empower Gators to consider waste in its many forms and the ways they can reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose, renew, restore and respond in their own lives.
