January 26, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Regional Transit System has expanded its Employee Bus Pass Program with the University of Florida to include more than 2,200 UF retirees who live in the Gainesville area.

The program allows organizations of 100 or more people to purchase prepaid access to RTS’ normal fixed route service for an entire year at a discounted price. UF has participated in the program since its inception in 2000. With the expansion of retirees, UF now has more than 14,500 people enrolled in the employee program who are able to choose public transportation at no cost.

Currently, RTS partners with the City of Gainesville, Alachua County, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Shands, Florida Works and UF in providing this service to their employees.
