Mitchell to speak Thursday before Academic and Professional Assembly

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs Thomas J. Mitchell will speak at 3 p.m. Thursday in Emerson Alumni Hall’s Warrington Room. The presentation is hosted by the UF Academic and Professional Assembly.

Mitchell leads the university’s fundraising efforts as head of the UF Foundation, and directs the resources of the UF Alumni Association. Since his arrival in June 2010, he has met with administrators across campus and developed a unique strategic mapping approach for determining the need for private support and best approach for acquiring it for UF’s many diverse programs and units.

With more than 24 years of experience in higher education fundraising, Mitchell was recognized earlier this year by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education as one of two people nationwide who has made extraordinary contributions to the advancement, quality and effectiveness of his university foundation and to the field of higher education foundations. He and his team members at other institutions earned 55 CASE Awards for excellence.
