Grinter Gallery presents global culture photography exhibition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Grinter Gallery will feature winning photographs from the Seventh Annual Global Culture Photography Competition from Nov. 15 to Dec. 3.

This exhibition, juried this fall, is sponsored by the University of Florida International Center, and portrays the theme of “Global Culture.” Submissions to the contest are divided into four categories: UF students traveling outside of the United States; international students attending UF and traveling throughout the USA; faculty, staff and alumni while traveling abroad; and UF photography and photojournalism majors while studying abroad. Photographic locations range from Georgia and Hawaii to China and Madagascar.

This year’s winners include:
International students:
1st place, Kan Li; 2nd place, Joost Morsink; 3rd place, Arun Purushan.

Study abroad students:
1st place, David M. Boynton; 2nd place, Jennifer Jean Mackey; 3rd place, Stephanie D. Don.

Photography and journalism students:
1st place, John W. McLaughlin; 2nd place, Shemuel T. Arrindell; 3rd place, Laurie R. Michaelson.

Faculty, staff and alumni:
1st place, William John Grisaitis;2nd place, William John Grisaitis; 3rd place, Kely McLarnon.

Grinter Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It’s closed weekends and holidays. Grinter Gallery is located in the main lobby of Grinter Hall, next to the University Auditorium, on the University of Florida campus.

Visitor parking is available in reserved spaces behind Fine Arts Building “C” on Inner Road. Visitor permits are issued to gallery visitors at the University Gallery.
