Students who studied abroad reflect on experiences

October 7, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — An event showcasing students and faculty who flourished while traveling abroad will be held in the International Center in the Hub building on Friday.

Sarah Kaiser-Cross, a senior who recently returned from a year in Israel and Egypt, and Rainer De Sousa, a sophomore and Brazilian student who spent two years in India, will be speaking from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Room 145.

The speakers will highlight transformations made during their travels and the struggles to learn other languages and cultures. The event is structured to highlight decisions that made these students question their place in society and embrace global welfare.

The event, called “Through Their Eyes: Perspectives across Cultural Boundaries,” will repeat on Oct. 27 and Nov. 17 during the same times. Study abroad advisers will be present at the events and food and drinks will be provided.
