Counseling and Wellness Center schedules grand opening, events

WHAT: The University of Florida Counseling and Wellness Center will mark the grand opening of its new facility at 3190 Radio Road with several events next week.

WHEN, WHERE:

  • A Live Optimally Fair featuring games, refreshments, etc., will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 on the Reitz Student Union North Lawn.
  • A grand opening ceremony starts at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the new facility, followed by tours of the building.
  • Rally towels will be given away from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Southwest Recreation Center.
  • Boris’ Boot Camp will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at Norman Field. The first 50 participants for each class at 6 and 7 p.m. will receive free T-shirts.
  • Ask a Counselor Booth will be available from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10 during Gator Nights at the Reitz Student Union.

BACKGROUND: The Counseling Center, formerly in Peabody Hall, and the Student Mental Health Center, formerly in the Student Health Care Center, have consolidated into the CWC at 3190 Radio Road to deliver psychological, developmental and preventative services to UF students. The CWC, within sight of the Southwest Recreation Center, also houses GatorWell Health Services, previously in the Student Health Care Center.
