Summer commencement ceremonies scheduled for Aug. 7

WHAT: Summer 2010 commencement ceremonies

WHO: A total of 1,326 University of Florida students are expected to participate in three ceremonies, based on regalia orders. A total of 2,885 students have applied to graduate this term.

WHEN AND WHERE: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug.7, in the O’Connell Center

All advanced degree candidates will participate in the morning ceremony.

Bachelor degree candidates from all colleges will participate in the afternoon ceremony.

A separate ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the HPNP Auditorium for the College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy graduates.

BACKGROUND: Vasudha Narayanan, distinguished professor in religion, will receive the Teacher/Scholar of the Year award for 2009-2010 at the 10 a.m. ceremony. Candidates for doctorate degrees in philosophy, education and plant medicine will be assigned an official commencement escort.

At the 2 p.m. ceremony, Peter Hong and Dilan Patel will receive outstanding four-year scholar awards. Eileen Parotino will receive an outstanding two-year scholar award.

Live commencement webcasts will be available for the two ceremonies being held at the O’Connell Center. Viewing information will be posted on the website this week.
