Honest Relationship

WHEN IT COMES TO DATING, IT TURNS OUT WOMEN REALLY DO VALUE HONESTY MORE THAN MEN.

IN A NEW STUDY LED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, RESEARCHERS FOUND THAT WOMEN REPORT A LOT MORE HAPPINESS WITH THEIR MALE PARTNERS, AS LONG AS THEY REVEAL THEIR TRUE SELVES INSTEAD OF PRETENDING TO BE SOMEONE THEY’RE NOT. BUT IT DOESN’T SEEM TO BE THE SAME CASE FOR MALES DEALING WITH OPPOSITE SEX.

Dr. Gregory Webster/UF Psychology Researcher: “Women, when they showed greater authenticity, that did not translate into greater relationship satisfaction for men. However, when men were more authentic in their relationships, women tend to be more satisfied with the relationship on average.”

EXPERTS SAY THAT A PARTNER’S AUTHENTICITY CAN PROVE FUNDAMENTAL NOT JUST FOR A HEALTHY LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP, BUT INDIVIDUAL WELL-BEING AS WELL. RESULTS SUGGEST SENSITIVITY DOES MATTER.

Dr. Gregory Webster/UF Psychology Researcher: “Women tend to be more in tune to their partner and what there partner is doing, so women may notice more when men are being honest about themselves or more forthcoming or more authentic. Whereas men in the relationship may not notice what their partner is doing as much.”

MEANING MEN, LIVING UP OR DOWN TO THEIR STEREOTYPE, MAY SIMPLY NOT BE PAYING VERY CLOSE ATTENTION.
