June 18, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — On Thursday, the Supreme Court released its decision in City of Ontario v. Quon.

The court ruled that it was not a violation of a police officer’s constitutional rights when a California police department reviewed sexually explicit texts that were on a department-issued pager.

The court also made it known that it is not currently willing to make any broad rulings regarding electronic devices while the technology is still evolving.
