GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Come see the University of Florida’s College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and Dance’s opening of their summer season with Stephen Sondheim’s “Marry Me A Little” at 7 p.m. on May 28-29 and June 4-5, and at 1 p.m. on May 30 and June 6. Directed by Tony Mata, this musical revue will be performed in the Nadine McGuire Black Box Theatre. The show features UF students in scenic, lighting and costume design as well as student performers on stage. Tickets are $13 for students, faculty staff and senior citizens with a valid ID and $17 for the general public.

“Marry Me A Little” is a musical with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman René. The revue uses songs by the undisputed master of the contemporary Broadway musical to tell a charming and bittersweet tale of love, loneliness and survival as a modern single. These songs have been taken from Sondheim’s better-known musicals and set to a dialogue-free story involving the relationship between two New York single people, who are in emotional conflict during an evening alone in their separate one-room apartments.

“Marry Me A Little” features songs from some of Sondheim’s classics, such as “Company,” “A Little Night Music,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” “Saturday Night,” “Follies” and more.
