Masters of Fine Arts thesis exhibitions to be displayed

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University Galleries will present two exciting exhibitions in April of artwork by graduating MFA students. Media represented include ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and video. These exhibitions are only displayed for short periods of time, but are well worth the visit. See really fresh, innovative work that is the culmination of three years of intensive study in studio art. Don’t miss the chance to come celebrate the completion of academic studies for these talented emerging artists.

Exhibition I will be displayed until April 2 in the University Gallery and Focus Gallery. Artists with work in the University Gallery include, Sheila Bishop, Patrick Coughlin, Chandra Debuse, Samuel Kingsley, Daniel McFarlane, Scott Robinson and Nancy Schreck. Artist Jennifer Kahn’s work will be displayed in the Focus Gallery.

Exhibition II will be on display from April 13 to April 23 at the University Gallery and Focus Gallery. A public reception will be held 7 to 9 p.m. on April 16. Artists with work in the University Gallery include Charles Benton, Abby Chryst, Maria (Gaby) Hernandez, Chesely Lewis, Kelly Rogers, Kristin Schimik and Dan Takersley. Artists Ben Carter’s and Mark Zimmerman’s work will be on display in the Focus Gallery.

University Gallery is located at the intersection of S.W. 13th Street and 4th Avenue. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; closed on weekends and holidays. Visitor parking is available in the reserved spaces behind Fine Arts Building “C” on Inner Road. Permits are issued to gallery visitors at the University of Florida main entrance information booth.
