GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Museum of Natural History will host the popular public program “Can You Dig It?” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20.

Presented in partnership with the University of Florida department of geological sciences and the Gainesville Gem and Mineral Society, the family-friendly event includes live demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages. Visitors may use Oreo cookies to discover the science of plate tectonics or watch Mike’s Magical Mineral Show and observe how minerals interact with light. Other demonstrations will explain how volcanoes erupt and how gems are transformed to finished stones.
