February 11, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Faculty members of the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning will present their current research at the college’s third annual Research Showcase Wednesday and Thursday at the Architecture Building on the UF campus.

A poster exhibition will be held both days in the gallery, while faculty members will discuss their research individually in Rooms 331 and 411 on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A full schedule of the presentations is available at www.dcp.ufl.edu/calendar/research-showcase-2010.

The research showcase, free and open to the public, is an opportunity for current and prospective students to learn about the research conducted in the college and a chance for design, construction and planning professionals to see new ideas that are driving the field. The research covers topics in architecture, building construction, historic preservation, interior design, landscape architecture and urban and regional planning.

One of the featured exhibits will focus on the college’s international programs, which benefit both faculty and student research.

“In addition to our strong international studies programs involving the majority of our faculty and students, DCP has over 22 agreements with some of the best institutions in the world,” said William Tilson, assistant dean of international studies and service learning. “These linkages provide a critical global context for faculty and student research projects.”
