Corry Village gas leak repaired

Residents of Corry Village family housing have been allowed to return to their buildings after being evacuated Friday morning because of a natural gas leak.

University Police and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a report of a natural gas leak at Corry Village on Village Road shortly before 10 a.m. (Feb. 12). Construction workers who were digging in the area hit a natural gas line, police said. Buildings 282 and 283 were evacuated. The leak was repaired, and Corry police cleared the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m.
