UF employees receive Prudential-Davis Productivity Awards

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Prudential-Davis Productivity Awards, an annual program honoring state government employees throughout Florida, has announced its winners for 2009. These winners include seven teams or individuals from the University of Florida.

In addition to honoring “innovation, creativity, and smart work,” the awards program recognizes individuals and work units that have adapted or implemented award-winning achievements to create added value.

Individuals are eligible for nomination, as well as teams, work units and entire state agencies or their divisions, regions, districts and institutions.
The program presents cash awards ranging from $200 to $2750, as well as commemorative plaques, certificates of commendation and letters of honorable mention The teams and individuals from UF who have been identified as 2009 winners are:

Notable Cash Award of $200

  • Maria Ralat, Senior Chemist, IFAS, for her increased output of a research laboratory.

Plaque Awards

  • Fan Coil Modification Team, Physical Plant Division, Health Science Center, for modifying a fan coil unit.
  • University of Florida Subaward Database Team, Contracts and Grants, for developing a contract and grant subaward management system.
  • James Bailey, assistant professor, College of Veterinary Medicine, for improving function, increasing profit, and creating state revenue savings.
  • Lena Hinson, program assistant, Levin College of Law, for streamlining procedures for two programs at the law school.

Certificates of Commendation

  • Community Campaign Online Conversion Team, a combined effort by University Relations, Bridges and the United Way of North Central Florida, for converting $1 million charitable campaign to online giving program.
  • Transcript Revenue Generator Task Force, Office of the University Registrar and the Chief Information Office, for designing and implementing an online transcript ordering system.
