GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida Air Force ROTC Detachment 150 held its annual spring awards ceremony on Thursday, April 16. During the awards ceremony, seven cadets, including five sophomores and two juniors, received the Lt. Col. John Lewis Crown Scholarship.

Lt. Col. Crown was a remarkable officer whose 30-year career included hundreds of flying missions in seven different aircrafts over the span of three major conflicts. Crown also was a World War II prisoner of war and took part in — and survived — the Bataan Death March. The $100,000 endowment contributed by the Crown family to Air Force ROTC at UF funded this semester’s seven $1,000 scholarships.
