GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Miriam Buhr, a doctoral candidate from the Educational Psychology program, was selected as one of 15 junior mentors chosen for the Society for Research in Child Development’s (SRCD) 2009 Frances Degen Horowitz Millennium Scholars (FDHMS) Program.

The society received 99 applications from junior mentors to participate in the program, which provides educational and professional development for undergraduate students from underrepresented groups to pursue graduate work in child development and other related disciplines.

Buhr is currently mentoring two undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing graduate work in child development fields. These scholars were given an opportunity to shadow Buhr during several 2009 SRCD conference activities of particular interest to policymakers, practitioners and researchers.
