Florida Blue Key presents the third annual Health Professions Day

March 6, 2009

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Blue Key will host its third annual Health Professions Day from 6 to 9 p.m. on March 22 in the Reitz Student Union Room 282. Admission is free, and complimentary food and refreshments are provided.

Florida Blue Key’s Health Professions Day is an event that caters to the wide variety of students at the University of Florida with aspirations of pursuing a career in the medical profession. The seminar begins with a tabling session where students may speak to different organizations about volunteering, leadership and getting involved on campus. These organizations include MCAT prep companies, such as Kaplan and Princeton, AED, Florida Diabetes Camps, Florida Alternative Breaks and many more. Speaking to these organizations gives students valuable insight into the health and medical fields, and they may benefit from the networking and connections in the years to come.

Immediately following the tabling session, live speakers will address students about the preparation needed for entering their respective professions, as well as ways to set themselves apart from the competition. The guest speakers also will hold a very general education session for students about requirements for becoming a great doctor, nurse or dentist. “Health Professions Day provides undergraduates of all health-related majors a great opportunity to meet the resources need to succeed. All three of our speakers this year will share an interesting part of their experiences in the health field and give us exciting tips and insight into the medical world,” said Clint McDaniel, FBK Health Professions Day director.
