UF to host lecture by noted Cornell interior design professor

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Sheila Danko, professor of design and entrepreneurship at Cornell University, will present her lecture “Designing Change: A Generation of Entrepreneurship and the Role of Design” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University of Florida Pugh Hall Room 170. The lecture is sponsored by the department of interior design in the College of Design, Construction and Planning, the Atlanta-based design firm idea|span and Shaw Contract Group.

Danko is an award-winning scholar and noted speaker who has been recognized with numerous teaching honors at Cornell. At UF, she will share and discuss video clips of her interviews with highly innovative company founders and entrepreneurs who have embraced a “designing mindset” as key to 21st century competitiveness in business. Her lecture, free and open to the public, is an opportunity for anyone interested in business, design and creative problem-solving to learn how new socially minded entrepreneurs are building their values into their new ventures by design.
