IFAS' Shibu Jose named Fulbright Scholar

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Shibu Jose, an IFAS forestry researcher, has been named a Fulbright Scholar for 2009 by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. During the 2009 spring semester, he will be based in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh, where he will teach and do research at the Independent University of Bangladesh.

Jose, an associate professor of forest ecology with the School of Forest Resources and Conservation, received the Young Forester Leadership Award from the Society of American Foresters last fall. His awards and honors include the Aga Khan International Fellowship (Switzerland), Nehru Memorial Award for Scholastic Excellence (India), UF CALS Junior Faculty Award of Merit by Gamma Sigma Delta, the Award of Excellence in Research by the Southeastern Society of American Foresters, and the Stephen Spurr Award by the Florida Division of the Society of American Foresters.
