Peer2Peer Information Technology Workshop

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Peer2Peer will be bringing UF Information Technology professionals together from 8:30 a.m. to noon on April 3 in room 282 of the Reitz Student Union to talk about topics relevant to everyday work life in IT. Scheduled Sessions Include:

“Elluminate:” This session will discuss the use of Elluminate, the online teaching tool in a computer technical support environment. Elluminate provides for real-time interaction during training sessions where desktop or application
sharing can demonstrate computer use for one or many students. In addition, the session can be recorded for later review at any time, at any location with network access. Elluminate also provides for direct control of remote desktops for troubleshooting and other support.

“Cool Tools:” During this rapid fire presentation up to three speakers from the UF Center for Instructional Technology & Training (CITT) will present an array of cool new tools available, and explain how members of the IT community can make the best use of them. Included will be Google Analytics, Basecamp, Mindmanager, and various presentation, interaction, assessment and social software tools.

“Elluminate Tech Support:” In one morning, you can connect via Elluminate, learn how to use Elluminate, and find out how to provide tech support for Elluminate!

“UF Exchange:” UF Exchange will provide a cost-effective and collaborative messaging solution for the University of Florida utilizing Microsoft Exchange. The solution will include mobile device messaging. The UF Exchange messaging environment will provide a more robust, available and scalable solution than presently exists at UF. Hear the current status and plans for this project.

“PeopleSoft Finance Systems Upgrade:” Upgrading these systems is a large-scale effort that will take months of planning and 18 months of implementation. The project will begin now with pre-planning activities to conclude on June 30. In July, the implementation work will begin with expected completion, and launch of the new Finance and Business Intelligence systems, in January 2010. “SharePoint:” Learn how your organization can use Microsoft Office SharePoint to facilitate collaboration, provide content management features, implement business processes, and supply access to information that is essential to organizational goals and processes.
