Tony Award-winning actress to speak on Jan. 31

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Players, sponsored by the University of Florida Student Government, will welcome its first Tony Award-winning guest speaker, Katie Finneran, at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31.

The stage and screen actress will offer insight into her journey to the Broadway stage, television and the big screen, as well as answer questions from the audience. Immediately after the lecture, Ms. Finneran will workshop performance pieces with a select group of Florida Players members. The event will occur at the Nadine McGuire Blackbox Theatre on the UF campus, and is free and open to the public.

Finneran has won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Featured Actress in a play for “Noises Off.” She recently starred on Broadway in Theresa Rebeck’s “Mauritius.” Other credits include various Broadway shows, films and television appearances.
