Autism awareness walk/run scheduled for Saturday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Autism Awareness 5K Walk/Run to benefit the University of Florida Center for Autism and Related Disabilities is scheduled for Saturday at Westside Park.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the walk/run will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.

The event is hosted by Eastside High School’s Students Together for Autism Research, or S.T.A.R., and is sponsored by Palm Chevrolet and Gainesville cardiologist Dr. Gregory Imperi. Registration envelopes may be picked up and returned at the UF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, 1405 N.W. 13th St., or Palm Chevrolet, 2600 N. Main St.

Registration forms also are available online at www.card.ufl.edu.

The entry fee is $10, or $15 to receive a T-shirt although extra donations are appreciated. All proceeds go to the UF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. Checks should be made out to S.T.A.R.
