Media Advisory: Consumer Confidence Report to be issued earlier

December 13, 2007

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Because Christmas falls on the fourth Tuesday of this month, the Florida Consumer Attitude Survey will be issued Dec. 21.

The survey is conducted monthly by the University of Florida’s Survey Research Center at the Bureau of Economic and Business Research and usually issued the fourth Tuesday of every month. Because of the holiday, the survey and its results will be posted and released earlier.

Consumer confidence is designed to help predict buying patterns by measuring the mood of consumers toward purchasing. Although other economic indicators also predict buying patterns, consumer confidence tends to be available sooner.

Respondents are 18 or older and live in households telephoned randomly.
