“The Simpsons” writer is coming to Gainesville on Nov. 13

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — An Emmy Award-winning writer and producer of “The Simpsons” stops by the University of Florida campus on Tuesday to speak about comedy and his experience with the popular, often off-color, animated series.

Mike Reiss is scheduled to give a lecture on Nov. 13 at the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and the show beings at 8 p.m.

Reiss wrote and produced many episodes of “The Simpsons” from 1991-1993. He also worked on “The Simpsons Movie.” He’s been a producer for other television shows including “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show,” “Teen Angel,” “The PJs,” and “The Oblongs.” His original screenplay, “My Life in Ruins,” began production in September 2007.

Reiss is a regular on college campuses, speaking at more than 100 colleges and institutions on four continents.
