The King’s Singers return to the University of Florida Dec. 3

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The King’s Singers return to the University of Florida to perform a special holiday-themed concert at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The Grammy award-winning group lends their a cappella vocals to a selection of Christmas classics just in time for the holidays.
Songs on the program include “Veni veni Emmanuel,” “Coventry Carol,” “Stille Nacht” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

Founded in 1968 by six choral scholars from King’s College Cambridge, The King’s Singers have been entertaining audiences around the world for nearly four decades. In addition to their collaboration with Sarband, the group has worked with a varied list of musicians including Pianist Emanuel Ax, former Beach Boy Brian Wilson and singer Fadia El-Hage.

From the beginning, The King’s Singers have specialized in everything from medieval music to masterpieces of the Renaissance to folk, pop and jazz. They have performed at cathedrals and palaces, barns and former factories, as well as in some of the world’s major concert halls.

The King’s Singers discography numbers nearly 90 albums including “Sacred Bridges” with Sarband, “King’s Singers Christmas,” “Six” and “Fire and Water: The Spirit of Renaissance Spain.” The group also recorded the 1998 “Circle of Life” which featured a diverse line-up of movie songs including “The Circle of Life” from “The Lion King,” “Kiss from a Rose” from “Batman Forever” and “It Had to Be You” from “When Harry Met Sally.”

There will be a pre-performance discussion at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $35 for front orchestra, mezzanine and mid-orchestra; $30 for rear orchestra; and $20 for balcony.
