Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to speak at UF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto
Gonzales will be speaking on Monday, Nov. 19, in the Phillips
Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Florida. This
event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:15 p.m, and the event begins at 8 p.m. Advance student tickets will be
available with a Gator 1 card starting on Nov. 14, and general public tickets will be available starting on Nov.15. Tickets can be
picked up at The Phillips Center and University Box Office and are
limited to two per person.

Alberto Gonzales was appointed the first Hispanic Attorney General of the United States in February 2005. As the former White House counsel to President George W. Bush, Gonzales played a vital role in the administration’s War on Terror and addressing the changing role of the Department of Justice post-Sept. 11. In 1995, he was named General Counsel to then-Texas Governor George W. Bush, rising to serve as Secretary of the State of Texas in 1997 and as judge on the Texas Supreme Court in 1999.
