Event safety committee to hold first public forum Monday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Ad Hoc Committee on a Civil, Safe and Open Environment will hold its first public forum from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Levin College of Law, 180 Holland Hall.

As described in President Bernie Machen’s recent letter, the committee’s charge is to review the university’s police protocols, university and ACCENT events management practices and community conduct policies to develop a series of recommendations for the conduct and security of events at the university.

The committee has scheduled this forum to hear comments from the public on these topics as its begins its work. A live stream of the forum will be available on the committee’s Web page: http://www.president.ufl.edu/committees/civil/.

Input is welcome during this forum, and committee members are prepared to receive comments individually as well. All written comments are part of an open public process and therefore cannot legally remain private.
